Bays Senior Tournaments



Rules & Regulations

(Updated May 15, 2008.)

1. The Bays 7-A-Side Challenge Cup is a B.C.S.A. sanctioned tournament. All players must be registered with a B.C.S.A. affiliated League or Organization from the 2007/2008 season in order to participate.
2. No player who is currently under League suspension may participate in the Tournament.
3. Teams may register for the Division of their choosing with the following restrictions:
a. No current Division 1, Division 2, Select or Victoria City Metro players are permitted in the Men’s Recreational or Over 35 Divisions.
b. No current Premier, Division 1, Select or Victoria City Metro players are permitted in the Women’s Recreational Division.
c. No players under the age of 35 as of December 31, 2007 are permitted in the Men’s Over 35 Division.
4. Teams are registered once they have submitted the tournament entry form and full payment has been received. Teams will be accepted based on a first come, first serve basis.
5. All teams must submit a completed and signed Team List prior to the start of their first game.  All individual players must sign in at the registration desk before participating in game play.
6. Teams found to have played games with ineligible players will forfeit all goals and points received for those games.
7. Points will be awarded as follows: three points for a win, one point for a tie. Standings at the end of the preliminary games will be determined by points, followed by goal differential.
8. FIFA rules of play apply with the following exceptions:
a. The number of players on the field per team is 7 including the goalkeeper.
b. Size of the field is 100' x 200'.
c. Playing time consists of 2 halves of 25 minutes with a 5 minute half time break.
d. There are no off sides.
e. Player substitutions take place on the fly at each team's goal line. The player coming off must leave the field before the replacement player can come on.
f. The ball is brought into play from the sidelines by a kick-in.
g. Slide tackles are not permitted in the Men’s Recreational, Women’s Recreational or Men's Over 35 Divisions, and will result in a direct free kick for the opposing team.
h. If a red card is issued or two yellow cards are issued to the same player in one game, the player will be required to leave the field and will be suspended from participating in the following game. In this instance, the team will not be allowed to replace the penalized player on the field for the remainder of the game. A player receiving a second red card will be expelled from the tournament.
i. In the event of a tied score at the end of a playoff game , the game will go to 2 overtime halves of 5 minutes, followed by a shoot out.
9. The tournament location is within a family neighborhood, so foul language and consumption of alcohol outside the beer garden will not be tolerated.
